Thierry Müller is a multi-instrumentalist composer, whose Ilitch and Ruth projects are recognized in the independent and international underground scene. He uses unconventional guitars as well as keyboards and other electronic devices to create unusual textures and sounds. Parisian graphic designer, he began making recordings in the early 1970s using prepared guitars, harmonium and tape recorders as instruments. Since 1978, his albums with multiple and unclassifiable universes have been described as “Cult” by personalities like Tim Gane, Lee Ranaldo, Steven Stapleton, Edward Ka-Spel…). He has collaborated on albums or live with, among others, Valentina Fanigliulo (Mushy, Phantom Love), Nick Littlemore (Empire Of The Sun, Pnau), Aaron Moore (Volcano The Bear), Jac Berrocal, Quentin Rollet, Pepe Wismeer …
Artwork description: Each exemplar contains a black three sided gatefold with die-cut letters on the front, with inside a title sheet with liner notes, a printed collage in edition of five and an inlay with examples of other artwork. Plus a coupon for a digital download of the same music and another extra item. Each exemplar contains one of the five series of collages, each in edition of five. “When Astres d’Or asked me to make a limited original edition, I was very flattered and anxious: What format, what media, what kind of music… And as always, under the nickname Ilitch, what story. For a very long time I wanted to pay tribute to someone that I loved very much at that time in my life but I always pushed it away because this story had been so passionate and destructive. So, at this request from Astres d’Or, I told myself that it was now or never. The choice to use only the guitar seemed obvious to me in order, over the improvisations at the base of this record, to remain in the ‘sentiment brut’ of narration of this past period. Collages were a common passion so they imposed themselves. In each one I tried to express a little part of her. “
